Post-Sandy Updates

First- I hope this small message finds you and yours well. If not, and there’s anything I can do, don’t hesitate to ask.

We weren’t hit hard in my section of Brooklyn, and neither were any of my close relatives. All fine and accounted for; no power lost; no water shortage; everything good in the ‘hood.

I am deeply saddened by the destruction around me and have committed to rolling up my sleeves this weekend at whatever volunteer center will have me. It’s hard to see my great City beat down this way, especially the areas I consider as my stomping grounds. Feel free to join me; I’ll most likely be in the Rockaways.

In happier news, I sent off a grant application on Thursday that could really change my life, and my nerves are on fire! It’s the first time I’ve ever applied for something of this nature and of this magnitude (it’s more than I earn in a year!), so just imagine my anxiety! Still, I’m glad I applied.

Also, I’ve added to my stress by attempting to finish NaNoWriMo this year. As if I have nothing else on god’s green earth to worry about. I have a couple of projects in mind, but let’s see which one actually gets the closest to finished!

Talk to me- how’s everyone doing? How many of you are participating in NaNoWriMo this year?
