Right around the end of Latinx History Month (which is coming up on the 15th), I pretty much write off the current year and start planning for the next: What stories will I focus on? What programs will I produce? Which writers and poets do I want to meet and/or work with? Will this be the year I finish my thesis? Or the year I say F*CK IT ALL and run away?
I still haven’t decided. I do want to write. I want to care about my writing. I want to throw myself into my creative pieces and come out bathed in victory (in the form of finished manuscripts). I want that. I even made this pretty chart.
I’ll need peace for this. I’ll need less demands on my time for this. I’ll need understanding and nurturing and to hand over the reigns of the Empire for a bit. Hell, I’ll need a sponsor!
But short of all that, I’ll just need a pen, some paper, and a good 20 to 60 minutes of time to myself a day. And the will/desire/motivation to make some magic.
Pray for me.
