This Sunday is my reading a Common Grounds in Brooklyn. I hope to see you there. Mostly because I will be reading a piece I’m playing around with and I’d love your feedback.
Back in May, I participated in a reading in New Jersey and one of the other writers read a piece written in the second person. And it was great!
I have always heeded the warning of such an undertaking: addressing the reader is bad; the second person voice is hard to maintain throughout; the pronouns will take over the page and EAT YOUR CHILDREN! OK, I made that last part up, but you get the idea.
The point is, I have the beginnings of a new story. It’s in the second person. I’m going to read it on Sunday.
So I’ll see you there, right?
xoxo,
Raquel Ivelisse
