Yesterday was my fall reading, and while many of you missed it, I’m still thankful for the experience. Everyone who participated had the right ingredient for what I envision when I think of the literary talent that needs to be untapped in Brooklyn. I was honored to have hosted all of these amazing wordsmiths!

My sincere gratitude to all who participated and all who came out to support us, especially to Common Grounds Cafe, who housed my fledgling reading series at no cost. You can’t imagine what it was like for me to be back in Bedford-Stuyvesant. This place will always be my home, no matter where I end up.
And of course, I’m always most comfortable when in the company of other creatives. This particular group impressed me with their pieces. Everything was so deep and heartfelt and I really connected with what they read. It was an unforgettable experience. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
