At a recent Pluma event, an audience member asked how one even begins to write. Besides the age old advice of “just start,” I and the other panelists doled out a few book recommendations to help her find some inspiration. Here’s a sampling of what we agreed were some of the best things to read if you’re serious about writing your story; I’m pretty sure there exists another blog post by me with these same books listed, but lets make believe this is the first time I’m suggesting them:
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg
On Writing by Stephen King
This Year You Write Your Novel by Walter Mosley
What are your recommendations?
