At long last, after almost seven years of rejections and rewrites, my short story “Enfermos” was published by Rose Red Review. Praise be!
This story has been with me since forever! It was part of my MFA creative thesis and had the honor of being the first story I ever read aloud. But it getting published means something else, too. See, “Enfermos” is part of a series of linked stories, two of which were previously published (“Grey Matter” and “On a Blue Day”). I’m one more story (getting published) away from being able to put the whole collection out there as a stand-alone book. At least according to my own standards. Isn’t that exciting?
Perhaps that book release party I’ve been planning my whole life will happen sooner than I thought.
What did you think of “Enfermos”?
